Dr Aseel Ali

Aseel holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Exeter, where her research focused on adaptive learning within Swarm Intelligence—specifically Ant Colony Optimization (ACO)—to solve complex combinatorial optimisation problems across multiple domains simultaneously. Prior to her doctoral research, she designed and delivered several high-impact AI and software engineering projects. These include a novel computer vision approach for detecting and classifying tumours in real-world MRI images, an interactive map using custom AI to locate landmines, and an Arduino-based mobile health system designed to mitigate Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Additionally, she built enterprise systems including a virtual school platform and automated administrative workflow tools. Complementing her technical expertise, Aseel possesses extensive administrative and leadership experience. As former Chair of the Research & Innovation Department in Iraq, and later as team lead during the COVID-19 pandemic, she directed multidisciplinary teams through the full lifecycle of complex systems—from initial architecture to testing and deployment.
